1. About us

These Terms & Conditions apply when you use barrelsandbasket.co.uk or buy products from Barrels & Basket Limited ("Barrels & Basket", "we", "us" or "our").

By placing an order, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you have legal capacity to enter into the purchase contract. These terms do not affect any rights you have under UK consumer law.

2. Products and product information

We aim to describe products accurately, including the product name, quantity or weight, price, ingredients and allergen information where applicable. Product photographs are illustrative, and packaging or appearance may change if a supplier updates its packaging, but the product supplied must still match the description and any material difference will be communicated where required. Availability is subject to stock, supplier availability, delivery area and, for prepared foods, production capacity. Where an item is sold by weight or volume, the quantity shown on the product page is the quantity on which the order is based, subject only to lawful tolerances where applicable.

 3. Orders and contract formation

When you submit an order, you are offering to buy the products in your basket. An automated order acknowledgement confirms that we have received your order; it does not necessarily mean we have accepted it. Unless we tell you otherwise, the contract is accepted when we send a dispatch, collection-ready or specific pre-order confirmation.

We may decline or cancel an order before acceptance where a product is unavailable, payment cannot be authorised, the delivery address is outside an eligible area, a pre-order cannot be fulfilled, or there is an obvious pricing or product-information error. If we have already taken payment for an order we cannot accept, we will refund the relevant amount without undue delay.

 4. Prices, charges and payment

Prices are shown in pounds sterling (£) and include VAT where VAT is applicable. Any mandatory delivery or other charge will be disclosed before you place the order, and we will not add hidden mandatory charges after you have committed to buy. Payment must be made using a method offered at checkout and may be processed by a third-party payment provider. Promotional codes, free-delivery offers and discounts are subject to the terms displayed with the relevant promotion.

 5. Availability and substitutions

We will not make a material substitution without informing you. If a substitution would change ingredients or the allergen profile, we will not substitute it without your agreement. If no suitable alternative is agreed, we will refund the unavailable item.

 6. Delivery and collection

Delivery availability, charges and estimated times are shown on the website, at checkout or in the order confirmation. Unless a different period has been agreed with you, goods will be delivered without undue delay and within the period required by law. Please see our Delivery Policy for full details.

7. Pre-order and prepared food

Prepared meals and some speciality products may be offered on a pre-order basis. The applicable notice period, collection/delivery date, storage information and product-specific allergen information will be shown or confirmed before fulfilment. Please see our Pre-Order Meal Policy.

 8. Food safety, ingredients and allergens

Food allergen information is provided in accordance with the type of product sold. For non-prepacked food sold online or by phone, written allergen information will be made available before the purchase is completed and again when the food is delivered or collected. Customers with allergies should read the product-specific information carefully and contact us before ordering if anything is unclear. Please see our Allergen & Food Safety Notice.

9. Cancellations, returns and refunds

For qualifying goods bought online, consumers generally have a statutory right to cancel without giving a reason within 14 days after delivery. This change-of-mind right does not apply to certain categories, including goods liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly, personalised/made-to-specification goods and certain sealed goods that are not suitable for return for health protection or hygiene reasons once unsealed.

These exceptions do not remove your rights if goods are faulty, unsafe, damaged, not as described or otherwise fail to meet legal requirements. Please see our Refund & Return Policy and Consumer Rights page.

10. Your statutory consumer rights

Goods supplied to consumers must be of satisfactory quality, fit for any purpose made known to us and match their description. Where goods do not meet these standards, remedies may include rejection and refund, repair or replacement, or a price reduction, depending on the circumstances and the nature/lifespan of the product. For highly perishable goods, the practical period in which a defect must be raised may be shorter than for durable goods because of the product's expected life. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes your statutory rights.

 11. Customer responsibilities

You are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address and contact details, and for following the storage, use-by or best-before, preparation and reheating instructions supplied with food. Please tell us promptly if a delivery or product appears damaged, unsafe or incorrect. Prompt notification helps us investigate but does not remove any statutory right that applies for a longer period. Do not consume a product if you reasonably suspect contamination, unsafe packaging or an allergen issue; contact us promptly instead.

12. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory consumer rights. We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We do not accept liability for business losses where you purchase as a consumer for private use.

13. Website use and intellectual property

You may use the website for lawful personal shopping and information purposes. You must not misuse the site, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with security or introduce malicious code. Website text, branding and original content are protected by intellectual property rights owned by us or our licensors.

14. Complaints

If you have a concern about an order, product or our service, please use the process in our Contact & Complaints Policy. We will not make access to your statutory rights conditional on accepting store credit or any other non-statutory remedy.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you continue to benefit from any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you and may have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your home jurisdiction.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms where our services, law or regulatory requirements change. The version in force when your order was accepted will normally govern that order.
