Your statutory rights when shopping with Barrels & Basket

1. Purpose of this page
This page explains key consumer rights that apply when you purchase from Barrels & Basket Limited. It is intended to make our approach clear and does not replace or restrict rights given to you by law.
2. Goods must meet legal standards
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods supplied to consumers must be of satisfactory quality, fit for their normal purpose and for any particular purpose you made known to us where you relied on us, and as described, including material information shown on the product page or agreed with you.
If food or other goods do not meet these standards, you may have a legal remedy. The appropriate remedy depends on the problem, when it became apparent and the nature and expected life of the product.
3. Faulty, unsafe, damaged or misdescribed goods
If an item is faulty, unsafe, damaged before it reaches you, materially different from its description or otherwise does not conform to the contract, contact us as soon as reasonably possible. For many goods, the Consumer Rights Act provides a short-term right to reject within 30 days. For goods whose expected life is shorter than 30 days, such as highly perishable food, that short-term period is limited by the product's expected life.
Depending on the circumstances, you may be entitled to a refund, replacement, repair or price reduction. For food, a refund or replacement will often be the most practical remedy. We will not require you to accept store credit where the law entitles you to another remedy.
4. Change-of-mind rights for online purchases
For qualifying goods bought online, by phone or by another distance-selling method, you normally have 14 days after delivery to tell us that you wish to cancel without giving a reason. After notifying us, you normally have a further 14 days to return the goods.
Where this statutory cancellation right applies, we will refund the price paid and the cost of our standard outbound delivery option. If you chose a more expensive delivery service, we are not required to refund the extra amount above our standard delivery cost. You are normally responsible for return postage for a change-of-mind return where this was made clear before purchase.
5. Food and other exceptions to change-of-mind cancellation
The statutory 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right does not apply to every product. Relevant exceptions can include goods that are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly, including many fresh, chilled, frozen and prepared foods; goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised; and sealed goods that are not suitable for return for health protection or hygiene reasons once the seal has been broken, where the legal conditions for that exception are met.
An exception to change-of-mind cancellation does not remove your rights where the product is faulty, unsafe, damaged, incorrectly supplied or not as described.
6. Delivery rights
Unless we agree a different delivery period with you, we must deliver goods without undue delay and within the period required by law. If we fail to deliver within an agreed essential time or, where applicable, after a reasonable additional period, you may have the right to end the contract and receive a refund. Risk in goods normally remains with us until you, or a person you nominate, takes physical possession of them.
7. Refund timing
Where a refund is due following a valid distance-selling cancellation, we will make it within the statutory timeframe. For returned goods, this is normally within 14 days after we receive the goods back or receive evidence that you sent them back, whichever occurs first. Where a refund is due because goods are rejected under the Consumer Rights Act, it will be made without undue delay and within the applicable statutory period.
8. How to exercise your rights
Email info@barrelsandbasket.co.uk or contact us by phone/WhatsApp on +44 7359 136074. Please provide your order number, the affected item and a short description of the issue. Photographs may help us investigate damage or food-quality concerns, but we will not make a legal right dependent on providing a photograph where one is not reasonably available.
9. Independent consumer advice
If you need independent advice about your consumer rights, you may contact the Citizens Advice consumer service or your local Trading Standards service through the appropriate official channels. You also retain the right to seek a legal remedy through the courts where appropriate.
10. Statutory rights
Nothing in any Barrels & Basket policy or term is intended to exclude, restrict or replace your statutory rights.
