Pre-Order Meal Policy
Prepared meals, special orders and advance orders
Effective date: 11 August 2026
Last updated: 13 August 2026
1. What is a pre-order?
Some Barrels & Basket delicacies and prepared meals are produced only after an advance order. The product page or order confirmation will state the applicable portion/volume, price, notice period, delivery or collection arrangement, storage instructions and verified allergen information.
2. Notice and availability
Most prepared items require advance notice. Any stated 24–48 hour period is a minimum estimate, not a guarantee for every order. Larger orders, party quantities or special requests may require additional notice. An order is not guaranteed until we accept it and confirm the required date or delivery/collection arrangement.
3. Payment
Payment is required using the method offered at checkout or otherwise agreed before we confirm production. Any deposit, staged payment or bespoke-order term must be disclosed before you commit to the order.
4. Allergens and dietary requests
Product-specific written allergen information is available before you complete the order. If you ask for a recipe change or tell us about an allergy, we will confirm whether we can accommodate the request before accepting it. A request does not mean we can guarantee an allergen-free product. Please read our Allergen & Food Safety Notice.
5. Cancellations and changes
Many prepared meals are perishable and/or prepared specifically for the customer. Statutory change-of-mind cancellation rights may therefore not apply. If you need to cancel or move a date, contact us immediately. Where preparation has not started and we have not incurred non-recoverable costs, we will try to accommodate a reasonable change. Once preparation has started, a voluntary cancellation may be refused. This does not affect your rights if we fail to supply the order as agreed or the food is faulty, unsafe or not as described.
6. Delivery and collection
Prepared-food delivery/collection availability depends on location, product and date. Be available at the agreed time. Where food must be chilled, we will provide appropriate storage information and you must refrigerate it promptly after receipt.
7. Storage, use-by and reheating
Follow the product-specific label or written instructions supplied with your order. Refrigerate prepared meals promptly where instructed and consume them by the stated use-by date. Reheat only where the product instructions permit it and reheat thoroughly in accordance with the supplied guidance. Product-specific instructions take priority over generic website wording.
8. Portion and product descriptions
Where a product is sold as 1 litre, 2 litres, a stated weight or a stated portion size, the same quantity will be shown consistently on the product page, variant selection, basket and order confirmation. Approximate serving suggestions are not guarantees of the number of people a portion will feed because appetites and serving styles vary.
9. Problems with a prepared order
If food is incorrect, damaged, unsafe or materially different from the order, contact us as soon as reasonably possible. Do not consume food where you suspect a food-safety or allergen problem. Your statutory consumer rights are not reduced by the fact that the order was made in advance.
